Texas Swim Academy Earns Spot on 2016 Aggie 100 List

Texas Swim Academy proudly earned a spot on the Texas A&M University 2016 Aggie 100 list, ranking no. 74 among their top 100 peers. The list, presented by Texas A&M's Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship in the Mays Business School, recognizes the 100 fastest-growing Aggie-owned or -managed businesses in the world.

Companies on the list are ranked by compound annual revenue grown from 2013 to 2015, and Texas Swim Academy saw a growth of 35.48 percent, earning them the 74th spot on this year's list.

Bruce McMordie, owner of Texas Swim Academy, and 1978 Aggie alum with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering from the Moody College of Marine Sciences and Maritime Resources, shared this about Texas Swim Academy's success, “Take advantage of every resource available to you. People will love to invest if you are excited to learn.”

The evening awards gala was held on November 11 at the Hall of Champions at Texas A&M's football stadium, Kyle Field. The honorees were joined by employees, faculty, administrators, current students and fellow entrepreneurs to celebrate their success.

Best Private Swimming Lessons Houston | Water Safety Skills

Best Private Swimming Lessons Houston http://texasswimacademy.com/

After enrolling her three children in a number of different swim programs around the Katy area, Rachael brought her youngest daughter, two-year-old Lily, to Texas Swim Academy for the infant aquatics survival program. In just a few short weeks, Lily's swimming and water safety skills had improved so rapidly that Rachael enrolled her older children as well. Now, all three of Rachael's children swim each week in the swim team preparation classes that are a part of Texas Swim Academy's competition swim program.
How is the program so successful? The foundation in water safety helps the children learn to swim by creating a respect for the water. When asked if she would recommend Texas Swim Academy to other parents looking for a quality Houston swimming program, Rachael agrees without hesitation saying that is a cut above the rest.

Best Swimming Lessons for Special Needs Kids | One-on-One Lesson

Best Swimming Lessons for Special Needs Kids http://texasswimacademy.com/

At Texas Swim Academy, we have a an aquatics program that fits every child’s needs. Our goal is provide every single swimmer with the personal, one-on-one attention from certified instructors and “result-oriented” programs. With the right instruction and guidance, we believe every student has opportunity to be comfortable, confident, and successful in the water.

Prior to Texas Swim Academy, Kathy Flores and her son, Alex, tried out many different types of swimming lessons from other organizations. However, none were able to make Alex feel very comfortable in the water. Through the Texas Swim Academy adaptive aquatics program, Alex was able to attend longer, personalized, 30 minute sessions twice a week.
“I would recommend Texas Swim Academy to anybody, whether their child has special needs or not. One thing I would feel about it is that it’s a totally life saving program for all children…Texas Swim Academy has taught him more than we ever thought he would learn.”

Swimming Lessons Save Lives

Larry Stewart, of Katy, understands all too well how quickly disaster can happen when his son, Kameron, had a near-drowning experience during a birthday party in 2013.

“I left to go to the store, and while I was at [there], I got a call that said my youngest son had just drowned,” says Stewart. Thankfully, one of the family friends in attendance was a registered nurse, and she sprang into action as soon as Kameron was pulled out of the water. He wasn't breathing and didn't have a pulse, so she performed CPR until the paramedics arrived.

“It's very important for kids to learn how to swim to prevent these types of accidents,” says Stewart. “Had my friend not been there, Kameron probably would be dead right now.”

Enrolling in Texas Swim Academy in 2015 helped his son regain his confidence in the water, not only overcoming his fear of drowning, but also becoming an avid swimmer who enjoys coming to lessons.

But this process wasn't easy for Kameron. Stewart recognized his need to be Kameron's advocate after being enrolled in a different swim school shortly after the accident, noticing that Kameron wasn't happy and crying during lessons.

“I thought they were going a little too fast for him to have just had a near drowning [experience],” says Stewart. So Stewart brought Kameron to Texas Swim Academy to try and find the perfect facility that would work with him at a pace that would allow him to learn while healing.

“And when I brought him here and talked to Kathleen, she had that motherly approach to it. She went slow and in steps with him. And after about two weeks, he was excited to come.”

Finding the perfect swim school is imperative in a child's ability to excel during lessons, and establishing a student-instructor relationship built on trust allows them to learn and grow in a way that will not only excite them about being in the water but develop a lifelong confidence around it, as well.

The Importance of Year-Round Swimming Lessons

School is back in session and the kids back to their routines, and you may be finding yourself wondering if there's a place for non-school related activities in the schedule. Often times swimming lessons are considered a “summer only” activity, keeping kids occupied during June, July and August while both school, and the sun, are out for everyone to enjoy a dip in the pool.

But what about the other months of the year? The reality is, kids can benefit greatly from year-round swimming lessons rather than just enrolling in lessons during the three months of summer. Incorporating swimming lessons into your monthly routine is an invaluable asset to your child's mental and physical well-being.

Safety First

The most important factor in year-round swimming lessons is that it helps your kids retain and improve their water safety skills. With more opportunities in the water, they are able to continuously increase their confidence in the water. There is no downside to extending lessons to a year-round basis as when their confidence continues to increase so does their understanding of water safety.

Continuing lessons throughout the year also allows for little swimmers to practice their skillset on a routine basis, which is important so they don't develop bad habits or a fear of water as they grow.

After-School Lessons and Engagement

After school swimming lessons are a great way for kids to release their daily stress while increasing their strength, stamina and health. During the school year, kids are faced with the daily challenges of new subjects and homework, and while it may seem like one more thing to add to the mix, allowing them to jump in the pool will provide them a place where they can find a release from their educational responsibilities.

Year-round lessons also keep kids active, especially during the off-season. During the cooler months, outside activity tapers off, leaving kids without their usual mode of exercise. Swimming lessons provide great exercise, keeping kids fit and healthy, even if the weather doesn't allow them their usual outside play time.

Engaging in year-round lessons allows kids to build their skills throughout the year and show them off come summer time. Contact Texas Swim Academy today to learn more about our programs for children of all ages.

Swimming Lessons for Kids | Stroke Development Program

Swimming Lessons for Kids http://texasswimacademy.com/

Our swimming lessons are a step-by-step plan of development wherein one skill is built upon another. The skills are practiced repetitively so your child learns each skill to a level of proficiency. We build self-esteem and confidence through repeated success and consistency with their training.
We have broken down the step by step process into six different levels of classes. Age, maturity, physical strength, coordination and skills are all important factors in creating a safe and successful class. The requirements for every level become essential building blocks and bridges to the next skill. We also believe that every child learns at a different pace. There are no time limits for completion for each level. It will be up to your swim instructor to decide which level your child will be in and when they can move to the next level. Swimming is a lifelong activity. We strive to give each child the resources they need to be successful and independent in the water.
Ages 4 and up Requirement: Child must be able to swim 15 feet independently with breath control. An assessment of their skills will be required for newly enrolled swimmers with no charge for the service.

Infant Survival Swim Lessons | Texas Swim Academy Testimonial

http://texasswimacademy.com/ Infant Survival . The Infant Survival Swim program at Texas Swim Academy is a unique style of infant swimming lessons that equips your child with the necessary skills to survive in the water. Our dedicated, knowledgeable instructors offer unsurpassed excellence in the field of infant and toddler swimming instruction.

Your child will gently be introduced to the water by their instructor. Once your child is comfortable in the water, the instructor will work with him/her to guide them through the lesson process and build a level of trust and comfort in the water. Once this is established, your child will begin to learn how to roll-back-to-float and then eventually start the swimming process depending on the child’s age.

Infant Survival Swim is amazing to watch. Infants and young children are transformed from being totally helpless in the water into confident, capable swimmers in weeks, not years. The added benefit of increasing self-esteem and independence in children while bringing relief and confidence to parents, not just meeting their expectations, but exceeding them, brings Texas Swim Academy great personal satisfaction. Teaching children to save their lives is our number one priority.
